Bishop Avenue Hot SIX formed in December of 2019 with the sole purpose of preserving an American art form known as early jazz. Consisting of trumpet, clarinet, trombone, piano, upright bass and drums, the bands goal is to stay as authentic as possible while keeping the band stage hot with not only styles from New Orleans, but to also include Chicago, New York and San Francisco styles as well. The band is inspired by the likes of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and his Hot 5 (and 7), Bix Beiderbecke, Turk Murphy to name a few. 8 & 10pm shows. Dave Monsch was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. and raised in a very musical environment, as his parents were both musicians and educators. Dave began saxophone lessons at an early age, studying with Cy Hays. Dave relocated to Texas to attend UNT. He has been involved in teaching, performing around the world and recording ever since.
